A buddy of mine was giving me a ride once and I remember seeing some very Leviticus-y bumper sticker on the car in front of us. Following frequent form, I started speaking before considering whether or not I should. I opened my mouth and complained aloud about preachy bumper stickers before suddenly remembering this pal of mine had a ‘Coexist’ sticker on his car. I shot him and awkward look and he laughed saying “Yeah man I hate them too. I mean, I have a bumper sticker but I’m not, like, preachy about it. I mean, if it ends up changing someone’s mind then good. If not, then whatever.” I couldn’t bring myself to tell this poor man that never, in the history of the world, has a bumper sticker ever changed anyone’s opinion. If what you think needs to be said can fit on the bumper of your car, you had either have one humongous car or reevaluate your philosophy.
